Terms of Use

These terms set the conditions for using Whittier Residents Directory. Visiting or using the reference means these terms are accepted; anyone who does not accept them should leave the site.

1. The Service

Whittier Residents Directory is a private reference that describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections connected with Whittier, California. It hosts no government record and is not affiliated with a custodian, court, library, or public agency.

2. Lawful Use Rules

Use the reference only for lawful personal, family-history, civic, consumer-safety, or similar purposes. You may not use it or any linked result to:

  • stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm anyone;
  • locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order;
  • commit identity theft, fraud, or another crime;
  • make an FCRA-regulated decision about credit, employment, housing, insurance, or a similar purpose;
  • scrape or republish the pages at scale; or
  • interfere with site security or operation.

3. No Consumer Report

This is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. The material here, and the output of a linked tool, is not a consumer report and may not be used for credit, employment, housing, insurance, tenant screening, or any other FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Outside Links

Assessor, recorder, court, election, library, archive, and sponsored-search links lead to services with their own terms. Whittier Residents Directory does not control those services, their availability, their charges, or their data practices.

5. No Warranty

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available.” No promise is made that a page, fact, fee, coverage year, URL, or external portal is accurate, complete, current, secure, or available without interruption.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of the reference or a linked resource, including a decision based on a record found through it.

7. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorney fees, that results from misuse of the reference or breach of these terms.

8. Copyright and Design

The original writing, logo, design, and layout belong to the operators and are protected by copyright. A short attributed quotation or ordinary link is welcome. Full-page republication and systematic copying are not permitted.

9. Term Changes

A revised version may be posted at any time. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance of the new wording.

10. Access Restrictions

The operators may block or limit access, with or without notice, when a person violates these terms, abuses the reference, or threatens its security.

11. California Law

California law governs these terms without applying its conflict-of-law rules. The California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000 et seq., governs public-agency disclosure and does not turn this private reference into a records custodian. California consumer privacy duties may arise under the California Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code §§1798.100 et seq., as amended.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
